As USB continues to dominate for data transfer connection, sometimes a standard USB connector is not reliable enough in harsh environments or when vibration is an issue. Honda have therefore developed a new range of latching USB 2.0 connector – TAK series connectors.

TAK series connectors have been developed particularly for industrial applications but could be used in any application where a standard USB would normally be used, but mating reliability is more critical. Some typical applications for TAK series connectors are machine tools, automotive and control equipment.

These connectors are currently available with 4 or 6 contacts and have a positive latching mechanism. They have been designed with a more robust body style than standard USB and also offer a 38% space saving over standard USB connectors and could therefore be used as an alternative when space is critical. Other features of the TAK series connector are the three keying options to prevent incorrect connecting and also the option of a screw mounting flange.
